On the Record

What experiences do you have that make you a good candidate for office?

Having been on the Board for nearly four years, I believe I have gained a better understanding of the needs versus the wants of the Village. I also think my nearly 25 years working for Kane County has provided me a good understanding of the function of government and how it is here to serve the public.

What are your top three priorities if elected?

1. Continue to provide as many public services as possible within the limited funding the Village of Elburn has secured. 2. Work with existing business to enhance their success within the Village of Elburn and to encourage others to be a part of Elburn. 3. Adopt and implement the Village of Elburn proposed Land Use Plan.

Would you support freezing your taxing district’s levy until housing prices rebound? Why or why not?

I would support freezing the taxing district\'s levy if the residents were in support of reducing the type of services they receive. Everything we do as a Village has a cost and we need to be mindful of all the ways we generate monies and then how we are going to provide the various services to the community.

What one decision by the village board do you most disagree with and why?

In these difficult economic times I have disagreed with the Village Board in the way we handled the police union negotiations. I think the police officers should be mindful of the budgetary issues and not have continued to request pay raises.

What was the biggest accomplishment of the board in the past year?

I think on an annual basis it is trying to balance the budget and minimize expenses. We are still working through Elburn Station/Anderson Road Bridge and the Village\'s Land Use Plan which I think will be big accomplishments.

Why should voters elect you to office?

I believe government is here to help its residents while remaining fiscally conservative. I believe my tenure as a Board Trustee has demonstrated my common sense approach to the Village of Elburn issues.
