On the Record

What experiences do you have that make you a good candidate for office?

Geneva Park Dist Board- 18 years as Commissioner( 4 years vice president/ 2 years president) Fox Valley Special Recreation Board Association Commissioner - 10 years Geneva Community Chest - 2 years Geneva Lions Club - 6 years United Methodist Church Trustee - 2 years Geneva resident 50 years Geneva business owner - 35 years Married 40 years to Joy Ogden Abts; three adult children and two grandchildren

What are your top three priorities if elected?

Use my years of administrative background to tighten and manage the budget and review contracts. Be hands in the field with the contractors to assure the quality of the project and respond when there are emergencies. I am available 24/7. Sell unused equipment and terminate the storage unit lease.

Would you support freezing your taxing district’s levy until housing prices rebound? Why or why not?

Yes I would support a freeze and would seriously like to lower. Not sure about tying to a housing price. To hard to quantify what basis one would use.

What one decision by the township board do you most disagree with and why?

The township board and highway commissioner have their own budgets and objectives. I do not agree or disagree with the township board.

What was the biggest accomplishment of the board in the past year?

Again I do not agree or disagree with the township board actions.

Why should voters elect you to office?

Being a business owner, a previously elected Commissioner of the Geneva Park District and Commissioner of the Fox Valley Special Recreation, I have the necessary experience to tighten and manage the budget. Being self employed gives me the flexibility to be hands on and available 24/7 for any emergencies or problems that may arise. My first priority as Commissioner would be to sell the unused equipment and terminate the storage unit lease saving $18,000 a year.
