What experiences do you have that make you a good candidate for office?

A lot of the skills I utilize and responsibilities I have in my day job translate to the job of Trustee. I am responsible for growing the revenue in my office and also charged with making certain that costs to not exceed those revenues. I am presented with problems, research solutions and make the best decision with the info at hand - just like a Trustee. I have served for the past two years in this capacity.

What are your top three priorities if elected?

Attracting new businesses to the Village while maintaining its small-town charm, keeping the Village a safe place for its residents, and working to upgrade our aging infrastructure (roads, sidewalks, etc.) within the limits of our revenues.

Would you support freezing your taxing district’s levy until housing prices rebound? Why or why not?

Yes, I would. While I realize that this could reduce revenues for the Village, families and businesses have born the brunt of upside down mortgages, increased state and federal taxes, and frozen or lowered wages in the past few years. Raising more taxes is not the best way to convince folks that Maple Park is a great place to live or work.

What one decision by the board do you most disagree with and why?

I can’t say that I have one. The current board has worked well together and worked hard to resolve issues and promote growth. Our discussions have been lively at times, but generally have produced results that we can all agree upon.

What was the biggest accomplishment of the board in the past year?

I would say the Watermain Project. It updated the last remaining outdated water supply lines in the village and improved water pressure for many residents and will leave the village poised to handle further growth when that happens.

Why should voters elect you to office?

I work hard to understand both sides of any issue that comes before the board and make decisions that are best for the whole village. I try to speak to residents who are or will be affected by one of my decisions so that I fully understand their position(s). I have enjoyed the past two years on the board and would look forward to the next four if elected.
