On the Record

What experiences do you have that make you a good candidate for office?

I am and avid reader and user of the Batavia Public Library. I believe our library is one Batavia’s treasures and my goal is to keep it that way. I’m a hard worker and I will put my experience as an educator, a parent, a grandparent, and a lover of books into working with the board to maintain the high quality of our library.

What are your top two or three priorities if elected?

My first priority is to learn as much as I can about the running of the Board of Trustees. I want to work with the board to maintain the high quality of our library, but also to work on improving the library where improvement is needed. I believe that a public library should have something for everyone, so I will work to make sure out library has something for everyone.

Would you support freezing your taxing district’s levy until housing prices rebound? Why or why not?

We’ve all been affected by the economic problems affecting our country, state, and community. I am very sensitive to this issue and would do my best not to burden our taxpayers anymore than we’ve already been burdened. However, I believe our library is a true asset to our community and is one of Batavia’s many positive aspects that will raise our propery values as the economy returns to a higher level.

What one decision by the library board do you most disagree with and why?

I am presently very pleased with what our library has to offer and am unaware of any board decisions that put the high quality of the Batavia Public Library in jeopardy.

What was the biggest accomplishment of the board in the past year?

I don’t know.

Why should voters elect you to office?

I am a hard worker with a true passion for our library. I do not have an agenda for what I want done at the library, but rather, I want to work with the board as well as the community to maintain the high standards that are already in place as well as to make improvements where needed.
