Why are you running for the position of Kane County recorder?

My name is Brenda Rodgers, and I am running for Kane County Recorder of Deeds. My background as a realtor and property owner allows me to bring a different perspective to the office of Kane County Recorder of Deeds. I have an awareness and understanding of recent market changes that affect the residents of Kane County. These market changes have a direct and indirect affect on the residents in buying and selling properties as well as the community itself. When elected it is my goal to hold informational seminars and quarterly town hall meetings to keep the residents informed of what the office sees affecting the community both positively and negatively. In addition, these meetings would inform the residents of Kane County of the various mortgages available, real estate assistance, and what the office of Recorder Deeds is doing to assist the community.

Explain an accomplishment of yours and how it would relate to your being an effective recorder.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management and Leadership from Judson University. This degree equipped me with decision-making, conflict resolution, knowledge management, and leadership skills. I believe these skills are pertinent to the office of Kane County Recorder of Deeds. I have over 20 years experience in real estate as a multi-million dollar producer. As a Council Member for the city of Elgin, I researched a program that provided jobs for various communities; and I managed to get some jobs set aside for Elgin. Therefore, I bring resourcefulness, knowledge, and the expertise needed to be a successful Kane County Recorder of Deeds.

How have you – or would you – work to technologically modernize the recorder’s office?

Yes, I would work to technologically modernize the recorder office. I would first post a survey on the website asking residents what the office could do to make his/her search for information easier? What information that is not on the website would benefit them? I want to make sure the site is user friendly while maintaining the privacy of the residents. Some of my ideas are: easier access to information, while protecting the taxpayer’s privacy. I would also add a question and answer area to the site

Why are you the best candidate for this position?

I will help our residents protect their important investment by staying abreast of the housing trends and offering educational seminars. I will make myself available to the residents of the county by doing evening educational seminars on a quarterly bases throughout the county. I will look at ways to more effectively record documents and to offer help to our veterans who are registered with the county.
