What experiences do you have that make you a good candidate for office?

I believe my communication with city staff and constituents during my first term on city council have been very rewarding. My involvement in STC Noon Rotary, STC Chamber of Commerce, STC Downtown Partnership, Norris Recreation Center and my wife teaching for 25 years in St. Charles has given me great exposure to our community and made me very accessible to our citizens. Having a strong relationship with the business community, school district, and park district provide me the opportunity to benefit and better serve our community.

What are your top three priorities if elected?

1. Work with city administration to maintain fiscal soundness while continuing to provide quality public services. 2. Maintain open communication with constituents and city staff. 3.Work with city staff and Plan Commission to properly develop First Street and Charlestown Mall.

Would you support freezing your taxing district’s levy until housing prices rebound? Why or why not?

I would strongly support the freezing of our annual tax levy as long as we could continue to provide the level of quality service to our citizens that they have come to expect. Programs such as the Emerald Ash Borer remediation, the annual spring trash pick-up, a stellar electrical dependency record, a top-notch police and fire emergency response record, etc. are all contingent upon monies that the city collects on our tax levies. If I could be assured that this freeze would not reduce or eliminate these important programs I would wholeheartedly support such a cost-saving measure.

What one decision by the city council do you most disagree with and why?

None

What was the biggest accomplishment of the city council in the past year?

The building of the RedGate Bridge well under budget and maintaining the city budget and receiving the top bond rating to continue to save the city’s funds are the biggest accomplishments this year.

Why should voters elect you to office?

I carry the same platform I held for my first term. I have no agenda and commit to serving back to the community that has given me and my family more than we could ever have hoped for the last 27 years! I listen to my constituents and share their concerns with the city staff and make my decisions on what is best for our community.
