I want to continue to provide good leadership for my community, and represent my area with a common sense approach to government.
a) The most important thing we can do as a board is to return jobs and prosperity to Kane County. The way to address this is to retain the County’s award winning county staff and programs. There are many factors when considering quality of life, affordable housing, good schools, convenient shopping and consumer services along with recreational opportunities and a first rate highway system. Together these attract residents and provide the human resources for industries to grow.
b) It is imperative that we find the funding to update the computer system for the court and court services. The system is antiquated. We need a new system in order to operate more smoothly and cost effectively.
c) It is important to continue and enhance the current policies that have allowed us to keep our high credit rating, which is better than the State of Illinois and most municipalities. For 6 years in a row, our Finance Department has received National Awards. With the county’s CFO recently leaving to take a job in another state, it is mandatory that we replace her with someone just as qualified.
I am a life long resident of South Elgin and have always been very actively involved in the community. I’ve been involved socially, through business and through recreation. I am involved with both the high school and junior high school. My work experience includes sitting on boards of financial institutions and the health care industry. I have developed a solid working relationship with county and city officials and staff. I’m pro law enforcement and public safety, and am a member of first Kane County Sheriff’s Police Academy. I am always ready to learn and listen and I am very accessible to the residents of my district. As a respected member of the community, residents are comfortable bringing their concerns to me.
My experience as a founding member of both Elgin Business Association and the South Elgin Jaycees, has given me the opportunity to network with local business leaders. As a County Board member, no one can take sole credit for any accomplishments. It involves teamwork. I believe that my experience and expertise has helped me to be seen by my fellow board members as a consensus builder. In an increasingly divisive environment, my experience in building consensus and working with all members to achieve good things for our county are necessary tools.
Our greatest challenge will be to continue to improve our infrastructure. The Stearns Road Bridge was instrumental to help alleviate some of the congestion in South Elgin. We were able to receive a grant to by several blighted homes in the community, and have worked to rebuild two of them. One of the greatest challenges facing this district will be the aging housing stock. We must encourage business to come to the area and we must continue to network with those that will help us achieve those goals.
By being a lifelong member of this community, I can relate to the people that live here. I am best suited by temperament, accessibility and experience. My lifelong association with the community, its organizations and its people are critical to address the needs of South Elgin during this difficult economic time. I’ve spent my life serving and helping others. This involvement results in good relationships. Most regard me as a friend and leader who cares. My experience with government at all levels, makes me the most qualified to continue to represent the residents of County Board District 16.
I have spent most of my life volunteering to make my community, church, and schools better. I was raised by parents who taught my sisters and I to work hard, be responsible, value the things we have, and give back whenever possible.
My opponent is ……unable to relate too many of the issues that affect residents in South Elgin. As an Air Force Veteran, mother, environmental steward, and community activist for Mental Illness and Disability……I am in touch with real life…..I know the price of food, understand how tough it can be living paycheck to paycheck and watching your loved ones and neighbors struggling to make ends meet.
I have the experience and a clear focus of Kane County Board priorities. I am running to lead us into a better future.
MY OPPONENT IS COSTING ALL OF US RESIDENTS OF KANE COUNTY TOO MUCH MONEY!
1)IMPROVING ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN KANE COUNTY TO PROMOTE JOB CREATION.
We need a dedicated Business Development Manager that concentrates on economic and work force development. This person needs to promote local job growth in Kane County.
Illinois’ economic development, finance, and tax organizations provide a range of incentive programs to initiate new business and commercial investment. Specific programs include financial assistance, a participation loan program, and a biotech training investment program.
I will work hard to identify and meet the needs of the business community through leadership, education, support and encouragement.
2)Government Transparency
3) Ethics Reform
I am not a career politician. My opponent has been in office for several years. I think he has to own up to being part of the mess that has taken over Kane County. Anyone who we have trusted to represent us but has just sat by and watched the County get worse is part of the problem. My opponent wasn’t elected by our community to serve on the Kane County Board and do nothing.
I am more independent than my opponent. I will take my marching orders from the people who really matter, the voters in the 16th District. I have been walking door to door for months, introducing myself to voters and getting their views on important issues first hand. And I have not heard one person say that my opponent has been to their door. If he isn’t getting out there and really listening to the residents of the district, who is he listening to?
We can do better! We deserve better!
I need your help now so I can use my experience, talents and passion to create real change for the people in Kane County.
I need your help now if you think the essence of democracy and responsive representation is a genuine path of service and not just a campaign speech.
With your help we can move Kane County forward toward a more transparent and accountable government
Unlike my opponent, I have been hired by multimillion dollar companies. I have been successful by being responsive, a team player, goal-oriented, results driven, and proven leader based on integrity.
One of the many challenges facing Kane County is addressing the need for improved services for Mental Illness, Substance Abuse and Developmental Disabilities.
As a member of the Kane County Mental Health Advisory Committee, we are charged with identifying and assessing current mental health services, while recommending any additional services focusing on the Northern region.
Over 876 individuals living in Kane and Kendall Counties currently have emergency or critical needs. (11,709 in IL)
IL ranks a low 48th in spending $19 per capita for home and community based services.
When elected-I will continue to fight for:
IMPROVED SERVICES FOR MENTAL ILLNESS, SUBSTANCE ABUSE and DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES.
As an Air Force Veteran, mother, environmental steward and community activist for Mental Illness and Disability.........I have the experience and a clear focus of Kane County Board priorities. I am running to lead us into a better future. I will work on improving the economic development in Kane County, which will help to create jobs, government transparency and ethics reform. As I have served my Country during Desert Storm, I look forward to representing all of you....my constituents.
I am Jennifer Barconi, Candidate for Kane County Board-16th District. Integrity and leadership working for you. I ask for your vote on November 6th.
